As a result of the merger between Schick Technologies and Sirona Dental Systems, Schick President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey T. Slovin will become Executive Vice President of the combined company and Chief Operating Officer of U.S. operations. The merger was unanimously approved by both companies’ Boards of Directors and is expected to close in the first calendar quarter of 2006.
Collagenex Pharmaceuticals has appointed George Lasezkay, Phar.D., J.D., to its Board of Directors and audit committee. Lasezkay brings extensive pharmaceutical industry experience to his new role.
Ivoclar Vivadent recently announced the recipients of the 2005 North American Sales Awards for its Technical and Clinical divisions. Awarded during this year’s annual meeting in Schaan, Leichtenstein, top honors were presented to team members who demonstrated outstanding sales achievements during the previous year. The Canadian Maple Leaf Award for Technical Sales was presented to 5-year veteran Leonidas Liakakos for meeting every technical sales criteria, including highest percentage in budgeted contribution. For Clinical Sales, the award was presented to Martin Brandl, a 6-year Ivoclar Vivadent veteran who not only achieved his forecast goal, but also demonstrated strong sales and service ability. The Territory of the Year Award, Technical, was presented to Charles Keller, with a support team of Nicolas Buek and Clifford Witherspoon, CDT. With 3 years of service to the company behind him, Keller achieved 109% of his sales forecast goal. In the Clinical division, the award was presented to Milian (Micky) J. Stewart, an 8-year veteran who achieved 118% of his sales forecast within his territory.
Heather Martin was promoted to a Vice President of Customer Relations position at MicroDental Laboratories as part of the company’s restructuring of its customer relations department. Since joining MicroDental in 1996, Martin has served the company in a variety of technical and managerial capacities, playing a key role in the creation of the Micro Advanced Cosmetics division in 1997. Her most recent position was Director of Industry Affiliations. Martin has been recognized with Woman of the Year awards for her impact in the dental industry by both the Women in Need Foundation and JP Consultants.
DENTSPLY International announced that its President and Chief Operating Officer, Tom Whiting, will retire at the end of the year. Bret Wise, currently serving as Executive Vice President, will be promoted to replace Whiting.
