Payam Ataii, DMD, on Shofu’s BeautiBond®
I have been in practice for over 20 years, focusing on treating patients with malocclusions and sleep-related breathing disorders. To date, I have treated more than 1,000 patients with clear aligners as a monotherapy or as part of a combination therapy to address orthodontic and airway disorders. When I am not practicing, I travel around the nation and abroad, lecturing clinicians and other staff members on these treatment topics. While lecturing 3 years ago, I heard another presenter talking about Shofu's BeautiBond®. I needed a better bonding agent for my restorative procedures, especially Class II, and have been using it ever since.
1. A stable phosphonic acid monomer enhances the bond to enamel, and a carboxylic acid monomer facilitates a strong bond to dentin.
2. BeautiBond has a low film thickness of only 5µm, which facilitates better adaption of esthetic restorative materials and eliminates marginal stain lines.
3. Available in a convenient unit dose, it does not require mixing and provides an efficient 30-second application.
How does BeautiBond simplify procedures? Self-etch, no agitation, and one coat application mean fewer steps-it can't get any easier.
Is the adhesive strong?
It has excellent bond strength to both enamel and dentin for a range of indications. I don't worry about inconsistent bonding or bond failure.
How is BeautiBond unique?
It seals and protects dentin. Other etch-and-rinse systems expose dentin to acid and desiccation. My patients have had no postoperative sensitivity.
