Since graduating in 1997, my time in dentistry has been amazing. I have taken every continuing education course that I could in order to expand my knowledge and the treatment offerings at my practice. My first digital technology purchase was an intraoral camera that came on a rolling cart with a huge monitor and printer, which now sounds like something from a comedy skit. As my career progressed, I made more digital investments, and eventually, I wanted to have my cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images integrate smoothly with my CAD/CAM images and my .STL files work seamlessly with my DICOM files. I chose a Planmeca ProMax® 3D CBCT system because it allows me to easily merge data with my CAD/CAM system. Dentistry has changed dramatically with
the introduction of this technology.
1. Planmeca ProMax 3D Mid CBCT unit with Planmeca CALM technology. 2. A CBCT image without Planmeca CALM (left) and one with Planmeca CALM (right).
How has Planmeca CALM simplified your practice? I can effortlessly take CBCT images of my patients who have Parkinson's or Alzheimer's disease.
Does Planmeca CALM reduce retakes? Yes. This both saves time and limits the need to bombard patients, especially children, with additional, unnecessary radiation.
How was your implementation experience? The customer service has been phenomenal. Planmeca wants the dentist to feel comfortable utilizing their technology.
