The holiday season is upon us again, and while many are looking at what clothes and other gifts are on trend this year, here at Inside Dentistry, we're looking at what's on trend in the profession. For our second annual installment, Trends in Dentistry 2020, Inside Dentistry compiled data from a variety of sources, including an extensive survey of our readership, to examine the developments in the business, clinical, product, and collaborative aspects of dentistry that shaped the year in practice.
Many of this year's trends were driven or at least affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, whereas others continued to reflect ongoing changes in the evolution of the profession. What types of materials and devices are dentists using? What treatments are they offering, how many are they performing, and how are they accepting payment? How much is being done in-house and chairside? To get a better idea of where you stand in the profession, benchmark your practice against those of your peers with statistics on these questions and more.
There's a lot of information to digest, so join Mike DiTolla, DDS, and I, as well as other industry experts, for a complimentary live webcast on December 8, 2020 (7 pm EST/4 pm PST), as we present in-depth survey findings from the year and discuss their relevance to everyday practice (See p. 18 for more information).
Other articles in this issue include a CE offering on the efficacy of various bone grafting materials for lateral sinus augmentation and a case involving a collaborative approach to rehabilitate a patient's function and esthetics with implants and a unique full-arch prosthesis.
I hope that you enjoy the issue. As always, your insights and feedback are welcome. Feel free to contact me at the address below-I look forward to hearing from you!
