As a dental product beta tester, I have considerable experience using digital intraoral scanners in my busy Brooklyn-based practice. I put each to the test, and of the half dozen or so that I have had the pleasure of working with, the Medit i700 is my intraoral scanner of choice. It is lightweight yet still feels solid and well-balanced. The quality of the Medit i700 is evident from the moment you pick it up. With an ideal combination of features and benefits provided by both the hardware and software, it is the most intuitive intraoral scanner that I've ever used, and its reasonable price makes it a tremendous value.
Thanks to its high-definition, 3D-in-motion video camera that operates up to an impressive 70 frames per second, capturing scans with the Medit i700 is fast, smooth, and seamless. The software really shines and has the ability to automatically stitch together previously stored intraoral scans with new ones. For example, if I have previously captured the left quadrant and am now capturing the right side, the software will seamlessly stitch the two together to create a full-arch image.
Another important software function that is unique to Medit is its color-filtering feature. If you are scanning a patient's arch using a retractor, and the patient's tongue pushes the retractor into the field of view, the color-filtering feature can automatically filter out the color of the retractor, reducing the number of artifacts and ensuring a clean scan.
If you experience an issue or need help, Medit provides excellent customer service. I have seen their support team launch help tickets within minutes of an inquiry on their Facebook page. Plus, there is an entire community of Medit users that will chime in and offer their suggestions. These are just some of the reasons that I prefer the i700. From hardware and software to service and support, it is the most well-appointed scanner on the market.
