Kuraray Noritake is known as a technological innovator in the dental adhesive space, and the science and chemistry behind PANAVIA™ Veneer LC builds upon the success of their best-in-class line of PANAVIA resin cements. After using this cement in my practice for about 3 months, it became apparent that it has all of the bases covered in terms of physical properties, ease-of-use, controlled application, and esthetics.
When placing veneers, I'm looking for something that provides easy cleanup and has a nice tack curing mode. This means that when you shine a curing light on it, it's going to solidify a bit and peel off easily. PANAVIA Veneer LC tacks very fast–within a second or two–and achieves a nice even tack cure throughout.
The "secret sauce" of this cement, so to speak, is the inclusion of newly developed spherical silica fillers. Kuraray refers to this as "nanocluster technology." The nanoclusters control the cement's flow and formability to effectively reduce drifting and sagging. They also contribute to its ideal nonsticky consistency, which facilitates easy and secure application across the intaglio surface without sticking to the syringe tip.
Although PANAVIA Veneer LC was specifically developed for the cementation of veneers, it works equally well for the cementation of inlays and onlays, and it is available in four shades (Clear, Universal, White, and Brown) that can satisfy virtually any esthetic situation you may encounter. I've been known to mix shades on occasion, which allows me to dial in an extremely precise color match; however, the range of supplied shades are sufficient to find a great match without any mixing for most cases. Once the cement is cured, the polishability and gloss retention are excellent and support the maintenance of esthetic margins over time. All told, PANAVIA Veneer LC is an exceptional cement that does everything that a bona fide veneer cement should do, and it does so easily, predictably, and consistently.
