Yapi, a provider of dental practice automation solutions, has announced the addition of MMS messaging to its Yapi Leap platform. This update allows dental patients to send images, such as insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and treatment-related photos, directly to their dental office via text message.
The new feature is designed to improve office efficiency by reducing administrative work during check-in. Patients can quickly send necessary images without needing to physically drop them off, saving both time for patients and staff. Photos sent via MMS appear as thumbnails within the patient text thread, allowing staff to review them at a glance. Incoming messages with images display an attachment icon, ensuring high visibility of patient-submitted photos.
“At Yapi, we’re always looking for ways to make communication between dental teams and patients as seamless as possible,” said Rachel Handschke, chief technology officer at Yapi. “With our new MMS capabilities, patients can now text images — like their insurance cards — directly to the practice, making the process faster and more convenient for everyone. It’s all about reducing friction and enhancing the patient experience, and we’re excited to bring this added flexibility to our users.”
According to the company, the addition of MMS messaging provides several benefits for dental practices:
- Faster Insurance Card Collection: Patients can send photos of their insurance cards for quicker processing.
- Seamless ID Collection: Practices can receive images of driver's licenses and other IDs, updating records in real-time.
- Medication Validation: Patients can send photos of their prescription or medication list instead of typing out the details.
- Better Treatment Coordination: Patients can send images of dental concerns, such as broken teeth or swelling, to assist in triaging and scheduling appointments.
- MMS Messaging to Office Number: Patients can send photos directly to the practice's existing phone number.
- Convenient Image Management: Practices can preview patient photos in Yapi Leap or download them for documentation.
The platform remains fully HIPAA-compliant, ensuring that all patient communications are secure and easily accessible, while helping practices streamline workflows. MMS messaging is available now to all Yapi Leap clients within the web app.
