At IDS 2025, Carestream Dental is unveiling its latest technological innovations aimed at enhancing dental practices’ capabilities, improving patient care, and expanding treatment options. The company is spotlighting its progress in CBCT imaging, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven software, and a new collaboration with Straumann to improve workflow integration and connectivity.
Lisa Ashby, CEO of Carestream Dental, commented, “Asking the right questions and delivering the best solutions has made Carestream Dental a market leader for more than a century and has helped our customers deliver the best in oral healthcare.”
Carestream Dental’s CS 8200 3D’s Advance Edition is a key highlight, building on the success of its predecessors with AI-powered software that streamlines implant planning. According to the company, the system now features multiple field-of-view (FOV) configurations, offering scalability to suit a range of clinical indications. The CS 8200 3D provides high-resolution imaging with a maximum resolution of 75 microns, which is ideal for detailed scans in endodontic cases.
With its advanced open architecture, the system also integrates easily with third-party intraoral scanners and software, the company said. This enables a seamless digital workflow, enhancing clinical productivity and treatment precision.
Additionally, Carestream Dental is introducing AI-assisted software that automates the implant planning process. The AI-driven solution speeds up tasks such as merging CBCT volumes with digital impressions, designing virtual crowns, and placing implants digitally. According to the company, these updates improve treatment predictability and allow practitioners to plan and execute implant procedures with greater accuracy.
Carestream Dental is also expanding its collaboration with Straumann, which will further integrate Carestream’s imaging technologies with the Straumann digital ecosystem. The new integration allows users to link the Straumann SIRIOS™ intraoral scanner with Carestream Dental’s imaging portfolio. This development facilitates smooth case management and simplifies workflows for both implantology and restorative dentistry. Clinicians will be able to send CBCT volumes and intraoral scans directly to the Straumann AXS platform, enabling efficient implant planning, surgical guide design, and file sharing with labs.
In addition to showcasing current advancements, Carestream Dental is also presenting a forward-thinking vision for the future of dentistry. In its Innovarium at IDS, visitors will explore how emerging technologies, such as virtual dental agents and predictive AI, could reshape the dental landscape.
Carestream Dental continues to innovate through its Oral Healthcare Innovation Hub (OHIH), an initiative focused on developing new technologies and forging strategic partnerships. These innovations demonstrate the company’s commitment to enhancing dental practices and improving patient outcomes.
