Planet DDS has announced the launch of RCM Zero, a new revenue cycle management (RCM) framework intended to help dental support organizations (DSOs) reduce inefficiencies, capture lost revenue, and automate key financial processes.
According to the company, RCM Zero is designed to eliminate manual tasks, reduce denial rates, and provide real-time financial insights across multi-location dental organizations. Built into the Denticon and Cloud 9 platforms, RCM Zero integrates automation, artificial intelligence, and enterprise dashboards while partnering with third-party services such as AirPay, DentalXChange, Sunbit, and Zentist.
The framework supports a wide range of revenue cycle stages, including eligibility verification, treatment plan estimates, claims submission, provider credentialing, denial management, and payment reconciliation. According to the company, features include automated eligibility writeback, real-time patient estimates, AI-powered claims scrubbing, centralized credentialing, auto-posting of remittances, and denial code mapping.
“Today, staff spend twenty minutes chasing eligibility, weeks waiting on denials, and months reconciling payments,” said Nathan James, senior vice president of product at Planet DDS. “With RCM Zero, eligibility is instant, estimates are ready before treatment, patients pay with confidence, claims are clean, and payments post automatically. Leaders get real-time dashboards instead of spreadsheets. This is how DSOs scale without burning out their teams.”
Planet DDS stated that inaccurate insurance verification alone can cost DSOs up to 2.9 percent of production, or $29,000 per $1 million in revenue. Additional costs related to manual follow-up, staffing, and write-offs further impact profitability. The company noted that DSOs may spend up to 8 percent of revenue on RCM-related headcount, while lacking visibility into multi-site cash flow.
Meghan Hernandez, vice president of revenue cycle management at Salt Dental Partners, emphasized the operational impact of an efficient RCM system. “At Salt Dental Partners, our priority is supporting practices so they can focus on exceptional care. Across more than 150 locations, revenue cycle plays a bigger role in that than many realize. Making the entire RCM cycle smoother means happier teams and a better experience for providers and patients. Having worked in revenue cycle for 20 years, I know the difference this can make, and I’m excited to see Planet DDS leading with its vision for RCM.”
The company indicated that RCM Zero represents a long-term effort to consolidate the revenue cycle into a single pre-adjudicated transaction, allowing DSOs to gain more predictable cash flow. Enterprise-level reporting is provided through the RCM Hub, which offers real-time financial dashboards for DSO executives.
“Dental organizations have accepted inefficiency as the cost of doing business. With RCM Zero, we’re proving it doesn’t have to be that way,” said Eric Giesecke, chief executive officer of Planet DDS. “By eliminating revenue leakage and automating manual tasks, DSOs can access the revenue they’ve already earned faster and build predictability into growth.”
Planet DDS provides cloud-based dental software, including Denticon Practice Management, Cloud 9 Ortho, and Apteryx Cloud Imaging, used by more than 13,000 dental practices and over 118,000 users across the United States.
