DEXIS announced that its DEXIS Imprevo intraoral scanner has been recognized by Institute of Digital Dentistry as the Most Improved Intraoral Scanner for 2025, citing developments in performance, usability, and workflow integration over the past year.
The recognition reflects updates to intraoral scanning technology driven by clinician feedback and ongoing product development. According to the company, these changes were designed to improve efficiency and consistency across a range of clinical applications.
“At DEXIS, improvement is never accidental – it’s intentional,” said Robert Befidi, president of DEXIS. “Imprevo represents our vision for the future of intraoral scanning: powerful yet intuitive technology designed to fit seamlessly into the daily reality of dental practices. This recognition affirms the momentum we’ve built, and the trust clinicians are placing in our DEXIS ecosystem.”
The Imprevo system operates on IS ScanFlow software and incorporates updates aimed at simplifying scanning processes while maintaining image quality. Enhancements include AI-assisted scanning algorithms that support faster image capture with fewer interruptions; dual sensor technology combining laser and white LED illumination for detailed imaging; a 25 mm depth of field to capture deep preparations and interproximal areas; a 40 FPS frame rate with CUDA-powered processing to increase scan speed and mesh density; and a smaller tip design intended to improve patient comfort and usability. The platform is also designed to evolve through ongoing software updates.
The company describes these developments as part of a broader approach to intraoral scanning as an evolving platform. The Institute of Digital Dentistry noted the role of software and ecosystem integration in its assessment, stating, “The DEXIS scanning software has evolved into one of the most feature-rich platforms available. More significantly, they also have DTX Studio - one of the best AI software suites in digital dentistry. This ecosystem approach transforms the Imprevo from just another scanner into a digital platform.”
DEXIS indicated that the recognition reflects collaboration across its teams to refine the user experience and expand system capabilities.
“This award is not about a single feature,” added Befidi. “It’s about progress — about teams aligned around a shared belief that dental technology can always be better, simpler, and more impactful for clinicians and patients.”
