Planet DDS announced the launch of AI Voice Restorative Charting, a new addition to its Clinical Voice+ Suite that extends voice-driven documentation to restorative exams within Denticon. The release builds on AI Voice Perio and applies similar functionality to capturing decay, existing restorations, fractures, and treatment plan entries during restorative procedures.
The company stated that the capability is designed for dental support organizations and multi-location dental groups, allowing a single clinician to document findings in real time. This approach reduces reliance on a chairside scribe and is intended to support clinical teams in moving through appointments with fewer interruptions.
“AI Voice Perio proved that voice-driven clinical documentation can work at scale inside Denticon,” said Nathan James, chief product officer of Planet DDS. “AI Voice Restorative Charting takes that same model and extends it to where most of the charting volume actually lives. Practices have long accepted that restorative documentation requires two people or workarounds. We’re giving them a better option: one provider, charting by voice, in the same system they already use.”
AI Voice Restorative Charting and AI Voice Perio operate on the same infrastructure, voice capture model, and governance controls within Denticon. According to the company, this creates a unified approach to clinical documentation across exam types. Restorative findings are captured during the exam and entered directly into the system of record.
The workflow is designed to recognize dental terminology, abbreviations, and compound commands in natural speech. A real-time voice overlay panel displays captured input as providers speak, while commands such as “Undo,” “Clear tooth 14,” or “Change that to amalgam” allow in-exam corrections without using a keyboard.
Planet DDS reported that the system supports voice-activated restorative charting, enabling providers to capture conditions and treatment entries without interrupting exams; a single-provider workflow that reduces dependence on chairside assistance; real-time capture and correction through voice commands; and standardized documentation governance within Denticon to support consistent records, more comparable data across locations, and reduced audit burden.
The company also indicated that capturing documentation during the exam can support consistency, reduce training demands tied to documentation variability, and improve confidence in clinical reporting and audits over time.
AI Voice Restorative Charting is now available to Denticon customers. Planet DDS stated that it plans to expand AI-powered clinical capabilities across DentalOS during 2026, including AI Voice Treatment Plan and AI Ambient Voice.
Planet DDS develops a cloud-based platform designed for dental organizations, supporting practice management, orthodontic workflows, and imaging through its integrated ecosystem. The company reports that its platform is used by dental groups and organizations across the United States.
