Medit Corp. announced the formation of its Global Orthodontic Business Division and the acquisition of Progressive Orthodontics, an orthodontic education organization based in Aliso Viejo, California, through its U.S. subsidiary, Medit USA Inc.
According to the company, the move represents an expansion of Medit’s involvement in the orthodontic segment, combining its digital scanning and software technologies with Progressive Orthodontics’ clinical education programs and practitioner network.
“This acquisition and the launch of our Global Orthodontic Business Division represent a defining moment for Medit. We are not simply entering the orthodontic space; we are committing to reshaping it. Progressive Orthodontics brings a legacy of clinical excellence and an unparalleled educator network that, combined with Medit’s innovation in software, creates a force that will redefine how orthodontic care is learned, practiced, and delivered worldwide,” said Han Ryu, CEO, Medit
The newly established division will oversee Medit’s orthodontic-focused products, services, and educational initiatives. Medit stated that the division will support digital orthodontic workflows through its 3D scanning systems and AI-based dental software platforms.
The division’s portfolio includes the Medit Orthodontic Suite, designed for simulation, treatment planning, and case design, as well as Medit Aligners, a clear aligner workflow solution. Both products are currently available in the United States, with additional global expansion planned.
Founded more than 40 years ago, Progressive Orthodontics is known for its orthodontic training programs and has provided education to practitioners in more than 60 countries. Its programs focus on case-based instruction in diagnosis, biomechanics, and treatment execution.
Medit stated that Progressive Orthodontics will continue operating its seminar and training programs under the new ownership structure. The company also indicated plans to expand SmileStream planning and hardware offerings and to integrate educational content with Medit’s digital platforms over time.
The Newport Beach, California, office of Medit USA Inc. will serve as headquarters for the Global Orthodontic Business Division, supporting product development, clinical collaboration, and practitioner education activities throughout the Americas.
“Joining the Medit family is the natural next chapter for Progressive Orthodontics. For decades, we have been committed to one purpose: elevating the art and science of orthodontics through education. Now, with the resources, technology, and global reach of Medit behind us, we can extend that mission to every corner of the world and equip the next generation of clinicians with both the knowledge and the digital tools to excel,” said Miles McGann, CEO, Progressive Orthodontics
Medit said the new division aligns with its broader strategy of expanding beyond intraoral scanning hardware into integrated digital dentistry workflows that combine technology, education, and clinical collaboration.
