Dandy has introduced Polychromatic Shade™, a new restorative technology designed to enhance the esthetics of monolithic zirconia crowns through a patented robotic staining and glazing process.
Zirconia remains the material of choice for the majority of crown and bridge restorations because of its strength, biocompatibility, and cost-effectiveness. However, achieving highly esthetic results has traditionally required porcelain-layered restorations, such as porcelain-fused-to-zirconia (PFZ) or lithium-disilicate restorations, which typically involve additional laboratory artistry and higher production costs.
According to the company, Polychromatic Shade™ combines the durability of monolithic zirconia with esthetic characteristics intended to more closely resemble porcelain restorations. The technology uses a patented robotic staining and glazing process that applies color with micron-level precision to create gradients, translucency, and gingival characterization on a zirconia substrate.
Dandy said the technology is the result of an investment exceeding $100 million and incorporates expertise in robotics, ceramic science, and machine learning through a global manufacturing and supply network.
“There is no reason now for dentists or their patients to have to compromise. Everything we do focuses on bringing premium quality prosthetics and patient experiences at an affordable price point,” said Daniel Hanover, Co-founder at Dandy. “That includes esthetics, and we believe dentists should be able to provide the highest-quality esthetic outcomes to every patient. Not just the ones who can afford it. Of course, realistic dental crowns are crucial for the well-being and confidence of the patient, but when a dentist can deliver a premium look at a fraction of the price, it will also drive patient retention and growth for their practice.”
According to the company, the restorations are fabricated on a high-strength zirconia substrate and are intended to provide enhanced esthetics while maintaining the strength associated with monolithic zirconia. Dandy also states that the crowns are priced at $99, include a lifetime warranty, and are supported by a five-day turnaround with no remake fees.
Polychromatic Shade™ crown samples are available upon request, and the restorations are currently available for clinical ordering.
