BioHorizons has introduced Prolifica™ allogeneic growth factor to its biomaterials portfolio for use in bone healing and tissue regeneration. According to the company, Prolifica contains a naturally occurring blend of allogeneic growth factors and preserves the natural biphasic release of proteins. The process provides an initial release of proteins and growth factors to support initiation of the healing cascade, followed by a prolonged release intended to provide continued regenerative support.
According to BioHorizons, Prolifica retains a minimum of 16 proteins associated with different aspects of cell growth, cell division, bone healing, and tissue regeneration. The product can be used for standalone bone grafting procedures and for bone grafting procedures in combination with autologous bone or other forms of allograft bone.
