Kuraray Noritake Dental Inc. has announced that KATANA™ Zirconia ONE SPEED can be sintered in approximately 8 minutes when used with the pre-heating function of the CEREC® SpeedFire furnace. According to the company, using the SpeedFire pre-heating function reduces the material's standard 9-minute sintering cycle to approximately 8 minutes. The capability is intended for clinicians incorporating chairside zirconia into same-day restorative workflows.
The pre-heating function brings the SpeedFire furnace to approximately 400°C before the sintering process begins. Clinicians select the pre-heat function on the SpeedFire screen and confirm that it is active. Once the furnace reaches the target temperature, KATANA Zirconia ONE SPEED can be sintered in approximately 8 minutes, according to the company.

Use of the approximately 8-minute sintering workflow requires CEREC System version 5.2.13 or 5.3.3 and later.
