Kerr Dental has announced the launch of ZenFlex RT Rotary Retreatment Files, a four-file system developed for endodontists and general dentists performing root canal retreatment procedures. According to the company, the system is designed to support removal of existing obturation material and subsequent canal reshaping while helping clinicians preserve natural tooth structure.
Part of the ZenFlex product family, ZenFlex RT incorporates a non-cutting tip, a minimally invasive shaping profile, and a maximum flute diameter of 1.0 mm. Kerr Dental states that these features are intended to support dentin conservation and controlled navigation of canal anatomy during retreatment.
“ZenFlex™ RT extends the trusted ZenFlex portfolio with a retreatment system designed around tooth preservation, procedural control, and clinical confidence. By helping clinicians maintain natural anatomy while navigating complex retreatment cases, ZenFlex RT reinforces Kerr’s commitment to solutions that support better long-term outcomes because every tooth deserves a second chance,” said Wyatt Hanson, vice president, product portfolio and marketing, Kerr Dental.
According to Kerr Dental, its proprietary heat treatment process increases file flexibility, while the non-cutting tip is designed to facilitate controlled canal negotiation during removal of obturation material. The company states that these characteristics are intended to help clinicians address concerns associated with ledging, transportation, and canal deviation.
The files also feature variable helical angles and variable-pitch flute geometry, which Kerr Dental says are designed to reduce screw-in tendency and self-threading while supporting advancement through the canal and tactile control.
“Every retreatment case presents a different clinical challenge. Clinicians need an efficient way to remove existing material while remaining in control and respecting the original anatomy. ZenFlex™ RT provides a clear sequence that supports safety, structural preservation, reliability, and confidence throughout the procedure,” said Philippe Sleiman, DDS.
The four-file configuration provides a defined progression from obturation-material removal through canal reshaping. According to the company, this sequence is intended to reduce the need to switch between rotary systems or assemble a separate retreatment protocol. Groove markings identify the recommended sequence, and ISO-standard color coding allows clinicians to distinguish file sizes.
Founded in 1891, Kerr Dental develops restorative and endodontic products and provides education and technical training for dental professionals. The company is part of Envista Holdings Corporation, which includes more than 30 dental brands.
