ROE Dental Laboratory has introduced ArchBridge for Overdenture, a patent-pending digital scanning system and workflow designed for fixed and removable overdenture cases. According to the company, the system allows clinicians to record attachment positions intraorally while transferring housing placement to the dental laboratory.
The system uses six reusable titanium scan bodies that press-fit directly onto overdenture abutments. Each scan body has a distinct geometry to provide an individual reference point during intraoral scanning. Tactile seating helps clinicians confirm placement, while a sandblasted titanium surface is intended to reduce reflections during optical capture.
According to ROE, the system builds on its Grammetry full-arch scan body technology, with the ArchBridge scan bodies and digital libraries designed around the overdenture abutment attachments.
“Overdentures are a great solution for patients, but the traditional workflow is time consuming and costly for the practice,” said BJ Kowalski, CEO of ROE Dental Laboratory. “We kept receiving cases where we couldn’t confidently determine the attachment positions from the digital data, so we built a scan body system to solve that problem. Now the doctor scans, sends us the records, and we provide a definitive denture, ready for insertion.”
ROE states that the digital workflow eliminates the need for poured models and analogs during attachment positioning. The laboratory positions and cures the overdenture housings before delivery, replacing the conventional chairside blockout and intraoral acrylic pickup procedures. According to the company, this approach is intended to address potential problems associated with housing binding or spacer movement during curing.
ArchBridge is compatible with most major overdenture systems, according to ROE. Supported applications include replacing an existing overdenture, converting a healing denture, and converting a removable overdenture to a fixed hybrid restoration. The kit includes spacers and placement tools, and the scan bodies can be autoclaved between patients.
Founded in 1933 and based in Independence, Ohio, ROE Dental Laboratory provides fixed, removable, implant, and full-arch laboratory services and case planning support. The company is a member of the National Association of Dental Laboratories and states that it uses FDA-approved materials and manufactures its products in the United States.
