Banuba, an artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision company, and Your Social Smile (YSS), a patient engagement platform, announced a strategic partnership intended to bring AI-based smile simulations to additional dental practices and dental service organizations (DSOs). The agreement combines Banuba's augmented reality capabilities with YSS's patient engagement and booking platform.
The YSS Platform enables patients to view simulated changes to their smile on any device in less than 1 minute without requiring a dental scanner or application download. Depending on the treatment, simulations are displayed through live augmented reality (AR) or generated from a single photograph using generative AI. The companies stated that the simulations are intended to facilitate treatment discussions and do not replace the expertise of dental professionals.
Under the agreement, Banuba provides the AR technology for real-time dental visualizations, which is combined with generative AI for photograph-based simulations. YSS determines the treatments available for visualization and how they are presented. YSS also markets the platform to dental practices, DSOs, and channel partners.
Dental practices can use the platform on websites and social media, in waiting rooms, during chairside consultations, and in patient follow-up communications. The platform also includes dashboard analytics identifying which treatments, campaigns, and patient touchpoints lead to appointment bookings. According to the companies, these analytics are intended to help dental teams track case acceptance.
Art Polzunov, product director at Banuba, said the company's experience in facial and video AI supports the development of smile simulations that preserve patients' recognizable facial features. He also cited YSS's dental expertise as a component of the partnership.
Shuaib Khaderi, DMD, CEO of Your Social Smile, said the platform is intended to connect treatment visualization with appointment bookings.
YSS is expanding its presence in the United States and internationally. According to the companies, the partnership will support efforts to introduce the platform to additional dental practices and continue its development.
