Videa has announced the availability of Ambient Coaching, an artificial intelligence (AI)–powered feature designed to analyze conversations between dental providers and patients and provide insights into treatment presentations, patient questions, and opportunities to improve communication.
The new capability is available to dental practices using Videa Voice Notes, an AI documentation tool that converts chairside conversations into clinical notes. Ambient Coaching builds on this functionality by analyzing communication patterns related to treatment recommendations, financial discussions, patient responses, and case acceptance. The technology also allows practices to evaluate these interactions across providers, locations, and appointment types.
According to the company, the resulting information can help dental teams identify recurring patient concerns, recognize potential communication gaps, and refine how treatment options are discussed. The goal is to support more effective patient education, informed decision-making, and continuity of care.
“When we launched Voice AI, we set out to give providers more time to focus on their patients,” said Florian Hillen, founder and CEO of Videa. “Today, we're taking the next step with Ambient Coaching, helping dental teams better understand patient needs, strengthen treatment discussions, and continuously improve care and case acceptance. That's the future we're building toward: AI that doesn't just make individual tasks easier, but helps the entire practice deliver better care.”
Videa initially introduced Ambient Intelligence in May 2026, providing access to select Voice Notes customers. The expanded availability of Ambient Coaching complements the company's existing voice-based applications, including Voice Perio, which supports hands-free periodontal charting.
The company is also developing additional analytical capabilities intended to connect patient conversations with subsequent stages of care. Planned applications include tracking patient engagement throughout treatment planning, identifying concerns related to treatment costs or scheduling, and incorporating relevant conversational information into follow-up communications, clinical documentation, and claims preparation.
“Every conversation between a dental provider and patient contains valuable information that can help practices deliver better care and more personalized experiences,” Hillen added. “Our vision is to make that context available to the people responsible for each next step, from the provider explaining treatment to the team coordinating follow-up or preparing a claim. By connecting these interactions, we can help teams better understand each patient's needs and deliver more informed, coordinated care throughout their journey. That's the opportunity for voice AI: improving the entire patient experience and ultimately driving better patient outcomes.”
Ambient Coaching is currently available to all Videa Voice Notes customers, including general and specialty dental practices. Additional information is available at videa.ai.
