The Oral Health Prevention Summit (OHPS) will return to Boston on January 27, 2027, bringing together dental and medical professionals, researchers, educators, public health professionals, and industry representatives to discuss approaches to preventive oral healthcare.
The third annual summit, organized around the theme “The Convergence of Prevention: Where Science and Systems Intersect,” will examine how developments in science, technology, and healthcare systems can be incorporated into prevention-centered care.
The program will feature Brett Kessler, DDS, as keynote speaker and the return of the Prevention Ecosystem Workshop, which focuses on implementing prevention-related innovations in clinical practice.
Discussion topics will include medical-dental integration, payment and coding, dental artificial intelligence literacy, salivary diagnostics, the oral microbiome, oral disease management and prevention, minimally invasive care, practice profitability, and emerging science and technology. The program will also address implementation and the future of oral healthcare.
“The Prevention Ecosystem Workshop gives us a chance to focus on the work that comes after a promising idea,” said Jessica Woods, MPH, RDH, FADH, OHPS founding board member. “How do we put prevention into practice? That means looking at implementation and how innovation can fit into the way care is delivered.”
In addition to Kessler, confirmed speakers include Linda Vidone; Joel Berg; Melissa Turner, BASDH, RDHEP, EFDA, CHO; and Jessica Woods, MPH, RDH, FADH. Other speakers include Brian Novy; Kevin Thomas; Erinne Kennedy; Jessica Lederhausen; Vilas Sastry; Mark L. Cannon; and Marvelyn Navarro, RDH.
“Prevention can’t advance in separate lanes,” said Turner, a founding board member of OHPS. “We need clinical care, science, technology, payment, and the people delivering care at the same table. OHPS is a place to make those connections and help shape what comes next.”
The Oral Health Prevention Summit brings together professionals from oral healthcare, medicine, research, education, public health, and industry to examine ways to advance prevention. The 2027 meeting will continue that focus through discussions of clinical approaches, technologies, and systems involved in delivering preventive care.
