Ultradent Products, Inc. has introduced the Gemini Nova™ cordless diode laser, a portable, dual-wavelength device for soft-tissue procedures in dental practices. According to the company, the Gemini Nova laser incorporates a cordless handpiece, base, and foot pedal connected through Bluetooth, allowing clinicians to move throughout the operatory without cords or cables.
The laser operates at dual wavelengths of 810 nm and 980 nm. According to Ultradent, the wavelengths can be used together or individually, providing dentists with three wavelength modes. The device delivers 20 watts of peak, super-pulsed power, which the company says provides faster cutting, less heat, and clean incisions in soft tissue.
According to the company, the Gemini Nova is designed to simplify learning and daily use. A 5.5-inch high-resolution touchscreen provides access to preset procedures covering surgical, non-surgical, hygiene, and orthodontic applications. Built-in protocols and technique guides can also be accessed directly from the device.
The Gemini Nova can be used with an optional Gemini laser mobile app. According to Ultradent, the app provides usage tracking, procedure insights, and technical support. The device is also compatible with existing Gemini laser tips.
Ultradent develops and manufactures dental materials, devices, and instruments. The company states that its vision is to improve oral health globally and that it supports financial and charitable programs focused on individuals' quality of life and health.
