medmix announced the introduction of its MIXPAC PiccoMix mixing tip, a dental cementation delivery device designed to increase material efficiency, improve mixing performance, and reduce material and plastic waste, according to a press release.
The device was developed in response to increasing demand for dental cementation delivery systems that minimize material waste while maintaining performance. According to the company, demand for dental cementation products continues to increase amid aging populations, growing interest in cosmetic dentistry, and expanded access to dental care.
Compared with earlier models, PiccoMix allows for up to 60% more applications per product and reduces dental material waste by 52% and plastic waste by 33%, according to medmix. The company attributed these reductions to modifications in the tip's design, including a narrower housing and shorter ring.
PiccoMix also contains 12 mixing elements, compared with 8 in previous models, a modification intended to improve mixing quality.
The mixing tip is available in several configurations for different clinical and manufacturing applications. These include the ML 2.0-12-S/D mixer, which features a 2.0 × 12 design and a 1:1 mixing ratio, and IOR and IOT tips intended for root canal and intraoral precision applications.
All configurations are compatible with standard two-component systems and 2.5-mL, 5-mL, and 10-mL cartridges.
