Research has established a clear association between a patient’s oral health and other systemic health conditions, referred to as the oral-systemic link. On a global scale, dental resources are not always readily available to support this approach for a lifetime of healthcare that specifically ties dental care to overall health.
To help supply holistic dental care on a global level, the Heartland Dental Foundation embarked on a humanitarian trip to a community in Choluteca, Honduras. Nine Heartland Dental supported doctors provided care through two clinic locations, performing 243 extractions, 73 fillings, 15 root canals, and 15 build-ups, totaling around $130,000 in dental care – for a community that otherwise wouldn’t have access to it.
